If I understand correctly - She's stark raving mad - means that she is completely mad, whereas - He came to the door stark naked - that he came without his clothes on. Is that correct?

I know that all the above are called "strong collocations" and are highly idiomatic, the problem is I do not know what exactly they mean and whether or not they are used in everyday speech. etc. or are they just another perfect material for the exam but compleltely unuseful for everyday life XP

the use of "stark" and "bone" are just adverbs...probably used to i guess as aa-chan put it to emphasize. i think they are used not that often..perhaps in formal writing...stark usually means absolutely so to say someone is "stark raving mad" probably means that the person is absolutely mad.
